We partnered with Standard Bank to design and build a new digital platform for their Business and Commercial Banking (BCB) clients. Our work focused on creating a user-centric and modern platform that would streamline operations and enhance the overall banking experience for a crucial business segment.

The Challenge

Standard Bank needed a new, modern platform for its Business and Commercial Banking clients. The challenge was to build a user-friendly and highly functional digital solution from the ground up, ensuring seamless navigation and a consistent user experience. This required a deep understanding of user needs and a collaborative approach with stakeholders to align on a clear project vision.

Our Approach

Our approach was a holistic process that blended rigorous research, innovative design, and continuous stakeholder engagement.

• UX Research & Information Architecture: We started with a thorough UX research phase, including competitor analysis, to understand market trends and user preferences. This research directly informed our information architecture, which was designed to enhance navigation and ensure easy access to key features for business clients.
• UX & UI Design: We created low-fidelity wireframes to visualize user flows and interactions, allowing for rapid, iterative development. We then developed a modern visual design language based on principles from Material Design and Backbase to ensure a cohesive and intuitive look and feel across the platform. Interactive prototypes were built for early testing and validation.
• Stakeholder Engagement: We maintained a collaborative partnership with stakeholders through regular reviews. This ensured our designs aligned with business objectives and helped establish clear interaction principles for the final product.

The Impact

Our work successfully moved the project from concept to a tangible, user-centred product. Our strategic design approach, grounded in user needs, created a robust framework for the new BCB platform. The project is currently in the MVP1 stage, a testament to our commitment to iterative development and continuous improvement.

• Research & Journey Mapping: We conducted thorough UX research, including competitor analysis, to identify market trends and user expectations. We collaborated with stakeholders on journey mapping to shape a narrative based on user decisions and actions. This process allowed us to understand target behaviours and define user task flows effectively.
• Visual Design & Prototyping: We created low-fidelity wireframes to visualise user interactions and streamline the experience. We then implemented a visual design using both new and existing brand languages to establish a cohesive aesthetic. Interactive prototypes were a key component, enabling us to develop and validate interactive models for testing.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Throughout the project, we engaged in regular stakeholder reviews to gather feedback and ensure alignment with business objectives. This collaborative approach facilitated design refinements and established clear interaction principles, contributing to a user-centred final product.
